Since January, the HUG have treated 51 patients with scabies. This figure is three times higher than that observed over the same period in 2021 and 2022, reports the “Geneva Grandstand“. Similar situations were observed in October 2019 and January 2017. Scabies, which causes severe itching, is caused by a parasite that lays its eggs under the skin. Promiscuity is the first contagion factor. The disease is transmitted by indirect contact with the clothes or sheets of a patient, or by direct contact, but the latter must be prolonged.
