The Irishman had a tough childhood. His mother died of a heroin overdose, after which he was moved from one foster family to the next.

  • Barry Keoghan is currently delighting the whole world with his looks and his acting performance.

  • The 31-year-old comes from a small Irish village and lost his mother to heroin.

  • The high-flyer is said to have a liaison with Sabrina Carpenter.

Since his leading role in the film “Saltburn”, Irishman Barry Keoghan (31) has been taking off. He is now even said to be dating a BFF of Taylor Swift (34).

The actor is not a prime example of a Nepo baby. On the contrary: he had a terrible childhood. Keoghan grew up in Ireland amid the heroin pandemic of the 1990s. “It was a new drug and people didn’t know the effects,” he said in an interview on the “Late Late Show” a few years ago. His mother died of an overdose. «I was living with my grandfather at the time. I was twelve. My mother was very young, she was 31. I have good memories of her and I’m very proud of her,” he said.

Before her death and before Barry went to live with his grandmother, he and his older brother were shuffled from one foster home to another. He estimates they were housed in about 13 different families. This instability bothered the brothers. “Every family was good to us. But as a child you don’t understand what’s going on. “You get clingy and then suddenly you have to leave again,” said the Irishman. Only as he got older was he able to gain a little distance from the time.

Barry Keoghan kept his dream of acting a secret

He and his brother Eric were finally able to build a stable environment with their grandmother. His older sister Gemma quit her job so she could also look after the boys. It was at this time that he developed an interest in acting. His inspirations were Hollywood legends Marlon Brando, James Dean and Paul Newman, as he once revealed to “GQ”. “I imitated people, put on different accents for pranks and played different personalities when shopping,” says Keoghan.

In his small home village, his dream of becoming an actor was laughed at. At 16, he applied for a film – without telling anyone. He got the role and shortly afterwards he started acting school in Dublin. He landed his first big gig in the Marvel action film “The Eternals” in 2019.

Barry Keoghan is the new It Boy

In his role as Oliver Quick in “Saltburn” he is now even competing with his co-star and heartthrob Jacob Elordi (26). Tiktok is full of videos that show Barry, for example, on the red carpet at the Golden Globes. With his red Louis Vuitton suit, he was considered one of the best-dressed men of the evening by Vogue, among others. Tiktok agrees: Barry is one of the hottest Hollywood newcomers. “He has such beautiful eyes,” says one fan.

A year ago the Irishman became a daddy for the first time. His son’s name is Brando, possibly named after his acting role model. The child’s mother is Alyson Sandro, an orthodontist from Scotland. The couple separated last July. According to “The Sun”, the reason was Barry’s wild party life. “She’s a great mother,” he told GQ a few months later. He is now said to be dating musician Sabrina Carpenter (24). The couple was caught by TMZ paparazzi on a dinner date and a museum visit.
