Xinjiang: The high incidence of the epidemic has been effectively curbed, and the scope of the epidemic has been narrowed

Since the outbreak of a new round of the epidemic in Xinjiang on July 30, it has rapidly spread to 37 counties (cities, districts) in 13 prefectures (prefectures and cities) in the whole region, and the Corps has 4 divisions, 2 cities and 13 mission fields. As of 24:00 on September 8, a total of 5,728 infections have been reported in the region (including the Corps), including 137 confirmed cases and 5,591 asymptomatic infections. The youngest of the infected persons is 1 month old, the oldest is 97 years old, and the median age is 37 years old. This epidemic is the largest and most extensive epidemic in Xinjiang so far.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, under the leadership of party committees and governments at all levels in the autonomous region, and through unremitting efforts in the previous stage, the high incidence of the epidemic in Xinjiang has been effectively contained, the number of newly reported infections has continued to decline, and the scope of infection has continued to narrow.

Except for Urumqi, Yining, and Korla, other prefectures, cities and counties in Xinjiang have achieved social zero

Liu Jianguo, Deputy Secretary-General of the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region, reported that through the hard work and continuous struggle of the whole region, the spread of the epidemic was blocked in a timely and effective manner, and the spillover of the epidemic across provinces was prevented to the greatest extent. The number has continued to decline, and the epidemic has entered the final stage. Except for Urumqi, Yining, and Korla, other prefectures, cities, counties, and urban areas have achieved social clearance and are returning to normal production and living order. As of 21:00 on September 9, the number of high-risk areas and medium-risk areas in the region had dropped to 147 and 128 respectively. A total of 5,226 infected people have been cured and discharged (out of the cabin) (4,683 in the autonomous region, 526 in the Corps, and 17 imported from abroad). There are 540 positive infected people, and there are no severe or critical cases.

In the next step, we will efficiently coordinate the work of epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, urge all localities to strictly implement the requirements of the ninth edition of the prevention and control plan, and scientifically and accurately control the high, medium and low risk areas. We will resolutely let go, pay close attention to various epidemic prevention and control measures, and strictly prohibit layer-by-layer overweighting and one-size-fits-all measures. We will place the protection of people’s livelihood in a more prominent position, make epidemic prevention and control stronger and warmer, and protect people’s lives and safety to the greatest extent possible. Stay healthy, minimize the impact of the epidemic on economic and social development, and strive to restore normal production and living order as soon as possible.
