More than a year after his murder, next Thursday, February 2, the verdict will be announced in the trial for the crime of the child Lucio Dupuy in which the child’s mother and her partner are accused, Magdalena Espósito Valenti and Abigail Páez.
That day the judges Aníbal Olié, Alejandra Ongaro and Daniel Sáez Zamora, belonging to the Court of Santa Rosa, La Pampa, will announce whether or not the two women are guilty of the brutal beating crime and the sexual abuse suffered by Lucio.
Then, within a period of no more than 15 days, another hearing will be held where the Court will confirm if they are guilty, and what sentence the defendants will receive.
Although the imputation only foresees life imprisonmentprosecutor Verónica Ferrero asked the judges for a fair and correct sentence against the defendants.
The trial began in December where both women testified in front of the Court. The most prominent and outrageous account was that of Abigail: «My intention was never to hurt him, much less kill him. It hurts my soul, I miss him a lot.”

During the trial, in the fourth hearing, which took place on November 17, Lucio’s mother refused to listen to the key evidence that could convict her. She asked to be removed from the room, as did her partner. It was the autopsy report, carried out by the coroner Juan Carlos Toulousewhich determined, precisely, that Lucio had abused before his death.
Before the magistrates, Toulouse reaffirmed that the child died due to a ‘fierce beating’ and that he presented “injuries in various parts of the body,” according to judicial sources.
He assured that he had been the victim of “recent and long-standing” sexual abuse, at the same time that he presented “a strong blow that affected his hip, buttocks and leg, with a date of 7 to 8 days.”
“There was a specific attack that caused his death,” according to the autopsy presented in the case. Lucio died from internal bleeding caused by a beating. In addition to the signs of abuse, he presented burns and bites.
“I’m not talking about everything he had out of respect for the baby and the family, but I have been a coroner for 27 years and 5 years in La Plata, I have seen babies and traumatisms, but I have never seen this like this”, Toulouse told telefé after doing the study.

Lucius was murdered on November 26, 2021 at his home in Santa Rosa, La Pampa. From the beginning he arrested his mother and her partner for the murder and as time went by the horror and mistreatment suffered by the child under five years of age throughout his life began to be known.
Now all that remains is to know what the judges will dictate regarding this case that from the beginning moved the entire country and that generated the creation of the pike law which consists of establishing mandatory training for doctors, teachers and State officials who come into contact with children and adolescents and thus be able to notice if they are victims of abuse or aggression.
