2,352 euros suddenly fell into the bank account of a 21-year-old man in Dilbeek. He now faces 80 hours of community service, says Het Laatste Nieuws. The money came from a woman who thought she was paying her son after receiving a WhatsApp message from him asking for money.
The 21-year-old says he is not aware of this story and claims that he was not in possession of his bank card at the time of the events: “I lent my card to my friend Yassine, a friend of mine . It was a favor I was doing him. I just like helping other people,” he told the court.
“He is responsible for his own bank card and therefore I am requesting an 80-hour community service order,” the prosecutor said.
The case has been adjourned to June 5 to determine if the young man is responsible for the scam and if he voluntarily lent his bank card to a criminal organization.
