Al-Marsad newspaper: A study published in the International Journal of Cancer warned that drinking tea at a high temperature can double the risk of developing some types of cancer, according to express.

The study, which relied on data collected from more than 50,000 Iranian participants, who all provided information about their socioeconomic status and other factors considered influencing cancer risk, indicated that drinking tea at temperatures above 60°C can increase the risk of esophageal cancer. .

Many people enjoy drinking tea, coffee or other hot beverages, but drinking very hot tea can increase the risk of esophageal cancer, said Ferhard Islami, a physician with the American Cancer Society. Therefore, it is advised to wait until the hot beverages have cooled before drinking.

The results revealed that drinking less than 700 milliliters of tea above 60 degrees Celsius nearly doubles the risk of esophageal cancer, and the researchers wrote: “Compared with those who drank less than 700 milliliters of tea per day at temperatures below 60 degrees Celsius, drinking 700 ml or more per day at temperatures above 60°C was consistently associated with a nearly 90 percent increase in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

These results may serve as a wake-up call to warn some who drink tea and hot drinks, to wait for them to cool to less than 60 degrees Celsius before consuming, while the risk increases by 90 percent, this number is only related to the spread of disease.
