The Ukrainian Armed Forces announced that they shot down one of the most expensive drones of the Russian Armed Forces

The Ukrainian military destroyed the Russian attack and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) “Forpost”, the South air command reported on Facebook on Monday, April 1. The drone was shot down in the Black Sea by the Odessa anti-aircraft missile brigade.

Speaker of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ilya Yevlash indicated on the Ukrainian telethon that the Forpost drone is one of the most expensive in service with the Russian Armed Forces, its cost is estimated at $7 million.

According to him, this is a fairly large drone that can conduct reconnaissance and also carry an additional combat load in the form of two missiles or other weapons to hit ground targets.

The Russian Army is actively using reconnaissance drones

Natalya Gumenyuk, a spokeswoman for the defense forces of southern Ukraine, said that the Russian military has begun to increasingly use reconnaissance drones to compensate for the lack of A-50 long-range radar reconnaissance aircraft.

“If over the past day we observed more than 200 reconnaissance drones in our area of responsibility, stretching from the Odessa region to Zaporozhye, this day there were a little less. But the enemy continues reconnaissance, and, obviously, he has a need to compensate in the air A- 50 in exactly this way,” she said on the telethon.

Zelensky: Drones will say “one of the decisive words” in the war

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, in an evening video message to fellow citizens, once again emphasized the need to increase the production of drones in the country.

“Exactly what the war requires must be produced by our military-industrial complex – as much as needed, on time, as needed. Obviously, drones in this war will say one of the decisive words for victory, and this must be the Ukrainian word, Ukrainian drones, Ukrainian victory,” Zelensky said.
