The weather has been surprising for a few weeks. During the second half of October, the prevailing atmospheric context will be that of a trough. This situation favors colder weather. If low-pressure systems arrive in Québec, the conditions are in place for snow episodes to occur. Besides, the season is still young. How will this solid precipitation affect major cities in the south of the province?

In October, nighttime temperatures are sometimes cold enough for the precipitation to solidify. According to the current forecast, two situations could give rise to snow within the next fourteen days. This weekend, the minimums will approach the freezing point throughout the provinces. Thereafter, around October 19, the same scenario should repeat itself. The risk of seeing snow falling in the greater metropolitan area becomes more likely.

It is during the second part of October that Montreal could see its first snowflakes of the season. More biting cold would even cause accumulations in places, especially in Quebec and Sherbrooke. However, no broadside in sight for these four major cities in the south of the province by the end of the month.
