They found remains of the largest cat that inhabited the Earth in Necochea

The skull of a carnivorous animal that lived about 10,000 years ago in the area of ​​the Atlantic coast was found this Tuesday in the construction of a house in the Buenos Aires city of Necochea.

The remarkable discovery occurred in a piece of land located in the Calle 60, between 125 and 127, of that city, while a group of workers carried out different tasks on that site.

It is the largest cat that existed in the history of planet Earthin the last stage of the ice Agepredator of other large animals, within what is called megafauna.

Meanwhile, a group of paleontologists from Mar del Plata came to the place; For her part, the local referent Agueda Caro Petersen pointed out in statements to the press that “now the pre-excavation is being carried out for the evaluation of a skull that it would be of the so-called Saber Tooth Tiger ».

A very important discovery

Scientists found the animal’s skull, sabertooth, paws and other body parts. “It is a very important discovery for the region and even for the world because they are one of those carnivorous mammals that do not appear very often,” added Caro Petersen.

He also stressed that “these are extraordinary things of science and findings that have to do with mega mammals that they are already extinct, and although in the museum we have part of the collection of these mammals, in this specific case it is something more important that can become news all over the world ».
