O Threads, a rival service to X (formerly Twitter), today announced the arrival of new features to try to attract even more users. The latest additions include support for polls e GIFs in publications, bringing you closer to your competitor.

Polls aim to boost engagement between users, allowing even infrequent users to participate in discussions and share their opinions. GIFs, which are quite popular, stand out among younger audiences.

It is worth remembering that Meta acquired the Giphy search engine in 2020, but was forced to get rid of it to Shutterstock due to antitrust regulations. Now the same service powers the new feature in Threads.

The arrival of the features follows recent updates, which brought a web version, an edit button and support for audio, profile switching, an option to view liked posts, text search, a chronological feed and more.

Recently, Mark Zuckerberg expressed optimism about Threads becoming the next app with 1 billion users, even though it currently “only” has about 100 million active people per month.
