Today’s news – Cairo – Arabs today

Dr. Gad Al-Qadi, head of the National Institute for Astronomical Research, revealed the details of an asteroid that includes three moons, which is the first quadruple system ever to be discovered, in a phenomenon that is unusual for asteroids that usually include one moon.

“The asteroid belt is the remains of one of the asteroids that were destroyed in the area between Mars and Jupiter, and thus resulted in the asteroid belt,” Al-Qadi said in televised statements to “Extra News” channel, on Tuesday.

He added that there is a part of this belt that deviates from its path and spreads in space, which from time to time emits meteors or comets to Earth, pointing out that the discovered asteroid is a collection of scattered particles.

He explained that the moons accompanying this asteroid have not been proven with conclusive evidence that they are moons until now, because in the end they are the crumbs of the body that was destroyed, explaining that the only planet that includes a large number of moons is Jupiter.
