The councilor of Valparaíso, Zuliana Araya, had a violent morning. Thus at least it was recorded in a video uploaded to social networks and in the police report of Carabineros to which Radio Bio Bio accessed.
Araya is the first transgender female councilor Elected in Valparaíso since 2012. She is not a fan of social networks. Her official accounts have not moved since 2021. But this weekend her name made noise.
It was at 10:50 this Saturday that Carabineros arrived at the town where the councilor lives. The reason? A call for threats of death and damage.
In the place they met with a neighbor, who denounced Araya’s violent acts. She explained that minutes before she had insulted them and threatened to kill them. She also made vulgar gestures at them. The situation got out of control when she took a stick with the intention of attacking them.
Against her, they were recording her and three witnesses witnessed the attacks.
Carabineros met with Zuliana, or tried to, because In his lack of control, he began to break the windows of his house and threatened the officials with hitting them.. He told them that she was a councilor and that’s why they couldn’t stop her.
The police report confirms that she was arrested anyway, although she was released hours later.
