Since the beginning of 2022, the national wastewater monitoring system in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein has recorded the viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater at regular intervals. The current data from April 18, 2023 shows: The viral load is currently as high as during the summer 2022 wave and even higher compared to last autumn. The regions of Lucerne, Winterthur, Bülach and Bremgarten in Aargau are particularly affected. The relative viral load there is between 80 and 100 percent.
There does not seem to be any impact on the healthcare system at the moment. The Swiss hospitals are not noticing an increased number of patients «Switzerland at the weekend» writes.
