The wife of the famous Hollywood star Bruce Willis announced that the initial diagnosis of her husband’s illness showed that he suffers from what is known as frontotemporal dementia.

Emma Heming, the actor’s wife, spoke in an interview with the American channel NBC, how her husband’s illness affected their family life.

The wife described her companion (68 years old) as a reference who taught the family patience, love, and giving, and that the disease was difficult for him as well as for his family.

On the other hand, Emma confirmed that she does not know if her husband Bruce actually realizes that he has dementia, although his diagnosis made it a little easier despite its difficulty.

“It’s good to finally understand what he’s going through, even though it’s still painful. When you know what the disease is from a medical point of view, it kind of makes sense,” she said.

Bruce Willis put an end to his artistic career, on March 20, due to his suffering from difficult health conditions, including the loss of his ability to speak.

Willis’ family stated at the time in a message via Instagram, “Bruce suffered from some health problems, and it was finally diagnosed that he suffers from aphasia (i.e. loss of the ability to speak), which affects his cognitive abilities.”

What is frontotemporal dementia?

According to the Mayo Clinic, frontotemporal dementia is “an umbrella term for a group of brain disorders that primarily affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. These areas of the brain are generally associated with personality, behavior, and language.” (Fuchsia)
