Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, with the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, presented the general situation in Lebanon and the region in light of the escalation of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon and the agency’s work programs on Palestinian refugees.
In a separate context, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati indicated after his meeting with Berri, that “I wanted to share with Berri the results of the contacts I made abroad, especially with regard to Lebanon and the ongoing war in the region.” He pointed out, “As for internal issues, I would like to draw attention to the fact that this afternoon there is a meeting in the government palace for the work regularization committee in the public sector and to consider the required increases in productivity allowance for public sector employees. This issue is very important, and I promised to pass it as quickly as possible.” Stressing that, “If it is approved today in the committee, I will call for a Council of Ministers session as soon as possible and I hope that this issue will not be linked to my visit to Berri, because this issue was before this visit, and I have promised the public sector this increase starting the first of this month.”
