Microsoft also offers Windows 11 on computers that are actually unsuitable for the upgrade. Despite the minimum requirements not being met, users have the option of loading the Redmond operating system. However, an error message is displayed during the installation.

Some time ago, Microsoft started showing full-screen Windows 11 upgrade banner ads on supported Windows 10 systems. To decline the upgrade, a small button at the bottom of the screen must be clicked. For a short time, however, the message has not only appeared on compatible devices, but also on PCs that do not meet the minimum requirements. Twitter user PhantomofEarth noticed that the offer appeared on a virtual machine with only 2 gigabytes of RAM, 60 gigabytes of storage space and no TPM security module.

Microsoft confirms the bug
However, there are no relaxed system requirements behind this, but a bug. I still get an error message when trying to accept the offer and set up Windows 11. Microsoft has that now too confirmed. Affected users should therefore not agree to the change. Although the developers have already fixed the bug, it could take two days for the change to arrive on all devices.
In order to be able to install Windows 11 on a system, a processor with at least one gigahertz speed with two cores and 64-bit architecture as well as four gigabytes of RAM is currently required. Microsoft also requires 64 gigabytes of storage space, a second-generation security module (TPM) and a graphics card compatible with DirectX 12 or higher. In addition, a more than nine-inch 720p display is required.
