Although the Lausanne station construction site, strictly speaking, has still not started, the related work is progressing well. Thus, the CFF is building a car park and an administrative building, which will notably house offices and police premises, south of the tracks, on the Épinettes side, at the west head of the station. However, “a significant infiltration of groundwater” occurred “where a capital reinforced concrete wall must be erected for the work”, reported the RTS this Friday morning.

“An incident like it happens on construction sites,” says the CFF spokesperson. This infiltration required urgent intervention to secure the work, and an exemption for night work for ten days. This runs until next Tuesday. A display has been placed in the area to inform local residents.

“We have to pour concrete at the end of the day and workers stay on the site until midnight to monitor,” said the spokesperson. There may be trucks coming and going, but there is no night work.” This should not cause additional noise pollution, according to the SBB.

Delay of several weeks

This should delay the construction site by a few weeks, but not enough to push back the schedule. The new nine-level construction will house the new station car park from 2026. Platform 5 will then be extended over this building and Avenue William-Fraisse.

The SBB hopes to be able to start tackling the railway platform in 2026. It is planned to widen and lengthen the platforms as well as completely redo the underpasses. The full commissioning of the station is announced for 2038.
