The head of state began by pointing out that what has slowed down the purchase of aircraft is the temporary infeasibility of the Conpes that enabled this possibility, which, according to the president, ended on December 31.

He explained that this is because bidders raised the price of their requirements and the minimum amounts for the purchase of aircraft. “We are not interested in meeting those demands,” he stressed.

The president assured that “nor is it true that there was a commitment to purchase French brands; The Swedes, French and Americans were allowed to negotiate, around not only costs for the country but also compensation for the purchase of weapons that would go to the aeronautical and satellite industry”.

The president assures that in effect the objectives of the Conpes do not adjust to the new security realities of the country and to the new criteria of airspace control and to the true rivals of national sovereignty: the illegal multinationals.

“Therefore, the construction of a new conpes, made by this government, will be determined by the new realities of the country’s security and the new technological realities that allow the control of our airspace“said the President

Petro added that “it was never announced to spend billions of dollars on planes. We only continue a Conpes made by the Duque government for 650 million dollars until the negotiation started and the time of the Conpes is finished.”
