“We are not going to enter Ukraine, with troops or with planes in the airspace”

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) rejected the Ukrainian request to apply an exclusion zone in that territory, invaded for nine days by Russian government forces.

This, the bloc argued, it is due to the possibility of generating an escalation in the conflict and provoking a “total war” in Europe in case of getting involved on the side of Kiev.

“We have made it clear that we are not going to enter Ukraine, with troops or with planes in the airspace”NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.

“The only way to implement an exclusion zone is to send NATO planes and impose it by shooting down Russian planes”he added.

One of the reasons that Russia argued for the invasion of Ukraine is the request of the government of Volodímir Zelenski to join, precisely, NATO.

“We understand the desperation, but if we do that we will end up having a total war in Europe, generating more suffering”Stoltenberg pointed out.
