Wels becomes a university town – veterinary university is coming

Wels (OTS) – About a year ago, the Sigmund Freud University, together with the Chamber of Veterinarians, approached the city of Wels to examine the possibility of locating the private veterinary university in Wels. As a result, there were several in-depth discussions involving all stakeholders. It turned out that Wels is the ideal location.

The speak for the city of Wels favorable geographical location and good connections to the west and east. In addition, Wels has one own zoo and is in the immediate vicinity of the Stadl-Paura Horse Competence Center and the Schmiding Zoological Garden. Also a possible Campus near the Tiergartens has already been inspected and found to be suitable.

After Wels prevailed against several other possible location communities, an LOI (Letter Of Intent) was concluded together with the Sigmund Freud University in May this year in order to subsequently hold detailed talks with the state of Upper Austria about a settlement. A discussion on this with Governor Thomas Stelzer and Minister for Agriculture Michaela Langer-Weninger, PMM took place in July. It was possible to agree on the establishment of a working group, which is now further necessary steps prepared for a final decision.
