cameras
In cameras we have a triple set on the back, the POCO F5 being the main one with 64MP, we also have an 8MP sensor for ultrawide lens and finally 2MP with macro lens. The front camera is 16MP. It has the ability to record 4K videos at 30FPS on the main and FHD at 60FPS on the front.
The Galaxy A54 has a 50MP main sensor, the ultrawide lens has a 12MP sensor and finally a macro lens with a 5MP sensor. The front camera is 32MP. On the A54, videos come out in 4K at 30FPS, both front and main.
When analyzing the photos, you can see in this first one the coloring and shadows. In POCO F5 the photo is darker, contrasted, with a warmer tone. In the A54, the photo has slightly more vivid colors, with a more balanced white balance, colors are more real and natural.
This same ultrawide photo follows the same pattern as the other, except that the Xiaomi photo was closer to the main camera. Look at the photo of the A54 as it had distortion caused by the lens.
Portrait mode, I don’t even know if it’s used a lot by people, but it’s there and working great on both phones.
The traditional night photo that you see around here, we can present a warmer tone again in the photo of the POCO F5, which brightened the areas a lot, the A54 left where it was really dark, darker. My eyes were seeing something closer to the Samsung cell phone, however, there are those who like the camera to reveal hidden spots. Samsung even did this in night photos, in 2022 with the S22 onwards, it kept the night photo closer to reality.
Another night photo, but indoors. The two are very close, with the Xiaomi phone having more shady areas, like the plant at the top. In the rest, I really liked the result of both, the colors are very realistic.
In the selfies, I took an indoor and daytime one, the POCO F5 for me made the photo clearer and sharper, both in the background area and on my face.
Now, at the same moment, I took the photo outside, with HDR on, and amazingly the sky was all blown out, but it lit up my face more. This problem has been occurring on Xiaomi cell phones, the Redmi Note 12 that we just reviewed had the same problem.
Overall presented, the Galaxy A54 takes the best in cameras.

hardware and performance
The hardware and performance department is often where the differences are most evident. The POCO F5, for example, comes equipped with the brand new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 with 4nm lithography. The Galaxy A54 has Samsung’s own processor, the 5nm Exynos 1380. In memories, we have 8GB of RAM with 128GB or 256GB in the A54, in the POCO F5 we have only one storage version, with 256GB and options of 8GB or 12GB of RAM. The version we reviewed has 8GB. The A54 has an additional MicroSD expansion option.
In all benchmark tests carried out by the main platforms on the market, such as AnTuTu, 3D Mark and Geekbench, the POCO F5 processor is ahead, boasting more performance and energy efficiency.
In addition to benchmarks, we tested them in games and the POCO F5 confirmed its favoritism. In Call of Duty Mobile reached an average of 60FPS with 100% stability, the Galaxy A54 with medium graphics got 40 FPS.
In Free Fire, the POCO F5 averaged 90FPS against 60FPS for the Galaxy A54. In Genshin Impact, one of the heaviest games we reviewed, the F5 put on a show, scoring 56FPS, against just 27FPS for the Galaxy A54. In Fortnite, where Samsung cell phones do well, the A54 made 54 average frames with graphics on medium, while the POCO F5 made 61 with graphics on high.

In terms of battery, both smartphones have a battery capacity of 5000mAhwith 67W chargers for the POCO F5 and 15W for the Galaxy A54.
In the Oficina da Net smartphone battery test, where we analyzed the cell phones for a period of 7h45min in intense use, where smartphones are subjected to different scenarios, such as games, video recording, browsing social networks and watching videos on Youtube, thus simulating what you would do with the smartphone during a day, at the end of the test, we had the following results:

The Oficina da Net battery test proved that the Galaxy A54 is able to last longer while performing the same tasks. It’s no wonder that the Galaxy A54 is now the 8th best battery out of all the almost 60 cell phones that have passed through here, the problem is that terrible charger that takes 2 hours to complete the charge. For the lowest consumption, the Galaxy A54 is the winner.

design and build
In product construction we have differences, the Galaxy A54 has a glass rear, protected by Gorilla Glass 5, while the POCO F5 is plastic. Speaking of plastic, the frame of the two is made of this material. The POCO F5 has IP53 as protection against dust and splashes, while the A54 has IP67. The A54 is smaller and has a lot more bezels on the front, something I didn’t like Samsung doing.
The two models are beautiful, the POCO F5 is much better than the POCO F4, the Galaxy A54 inherited the appearance of Samsung’s top-of-the-line smartphones, I really liked both in that regard.
Overall, for better material construction and greater protection, the Galaxy A54 takes the point in Design and construction.

In screens we have two OLED panels, the Galaxy A54 with 6.4 inches of physical size, FULLHD resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, maximum peak brightness of 1000 nits and Gorilla Glass 5 as protection, in addition to the fingerprint sensor that is on the screen. The POCO F5 has 6.67 inches, the screen is slightly larger, the rest is the same, FULLHD, 120Hz Gorilla Glass 5 and a maximum peak of 1000 nits of brightness, the POCO F5 sensor is on the side.
The difference I noticed when I put them side by side was that the POCO F5’s screen has slightly warmer colors, using the recommended color modes, which on the POCO F5 is Vivid.
There is a small difference in terms of size too, which in this case is a matter of personal taste. In terms of screen, I consider it a draw.

In terms of prices, the POCO F5 is not yet officially sold in Brazil, but it can be found here in marketplaces for BRL 3500, or imported from China for BRL 2,070, the cheapest price we found. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A54 officially sold here in Brazil, with a 1-year warranty, costs R$ 1850. In terms of price, the Galaxy A54 wins, you don’t have to worry about taxation and it’s still cheaper.

Conclusion
Of the six questions analyzed, POCO F5 won only in performance, four other questions were won by the Galaxy A54 and we still had a tie on the screen. Given the scenario presented, it is evident that the Galaxy A54 is the winner of the comparison, having a wide advantage in several items. In addition to the issue of updates, the A54 will receive 4 major Android updates, against 2 updates for the POCO F5.
If your only need is gaming, POCO F5 is the best choice., in fact Xiaomi’s cell phone is much better in performance. In addition, at no time was it mentioned that it is bad in any way, quite the contrary, both smartphones have several qualities that classify them as the best value for money phones of 2023.
