what it is and what the symptoms are – Time

The Sun reported in an article a phenomenon that is alarming the English. In the United Kingdom, an alert has been raised for the so-called “carnivorous disease” affecting dogs. We are talking about Alabama Rot, the common name for the condition that veterinarians define as CRGV (acronym for Cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy). This pathology, according to what the Istituto Zooprophylattico Sperimentale delle Venezie highlights, “is characterized by a vasculopathy that affects the skin (mainly the extremities) and the kidney (in particular the renal glomerulus)”.

There is an alarm in Japan over the flesh-eating streptococcus. Bassetti's fear...

But how can owners of four-legged friends realize this? Animals develop erosive lesions in which the flesh appears to be “eaten away,” similar to what occurs in streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS). This is why the expression “flesh-eating disease” is used. It is currently an idiopathic pathology (that is, the cause of which is unknown), but lethal. “Some clinic-pathological similarities with hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) in humans have led to the hypothesis of a possible role of Shiga toxin-producing strains of Escherichia coli”, hypothesize veterinarians. The basic symptoms? In addition to the aforementioned skin lessons, also gastrointestinal problems, fever and tiredness.
