A “Sky Moon Tourbillon” by Patek Philippe was the subject of a new world record at the “Watches Online: Top of the Time” auction organized by Christie’s in Hong Kong. It was sold for $5.8 million, making it the most expensive watch ever sold at online auction.
The watch, 44 millimeters in diameter and featuring a hand-engraved 18-karat white gold case, was part of an auction of 111 luxury items from Piaget, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Rolex, Bulgari or Cartier again.

The “Sky Moon Tourbillon 6002 G” is equipped with various accessories, including matching cufflinks. Its reverse is inspired by a sparkling starry sky. This watch is extremely rare, which could explain its high selling price.

While physical auction prices are generally higher, online auctions are gaining ground, especially among millennials. According to Christie’s, 40% of bidders belong to this generation. The record for the most expensive watch ever sold at auction is still held by the Patek Philippe “Grandmaster Chime”, which sold for $31.2 million at an auction in Geneva in November 2019.
