The Dax is 35 years old: Germany’s leading index Dax celebrates its birthday on June 1st.

Frankfurt Shortly before its 35th birthday, the Dax gave itself and its investors a present. With 16,427 points on June 16, it marked a new all-time high. Since then, it has fallen below the 16,000 point mark again at times, but: “The Dax is a success story,” says Joachim Schallmayer, capital market strategist at Dekabank.

35 years Dax: 1288 percent price increase

Since the end of its first trading day on June 1, 1988, the Dax has gained 1288 percent. This corresponds to a return of 7.8 percent per year. Surprisingly, the Dax has beaten the world stock index MSCI World. Since June 1, 1988, the MSCI World has gained 1170 percent, including all dividend payments.
