A nutritionist reveals foods and drinks that cause lethargy after eating breakfast in Ramadan

Al-Marsad newspaper: Nutrition experts revealed, surprisingly, the reason for feeling lethargic following eating breakfast in Ramadan, saying that it is the type of food, not the quantity, that causes lethargy.

As for foods that lead to inactivity, they include: 1- Fried chicken: Eating fried chicken gives the feeling of being late for the first moment, due to the large number of grease and industrial additives, as it is not at the top of the health list, according to the “Eat This, Not That” website.

For her part, Medical Council expert Dr. Lisa Young said that sugary drinks such as soda cause an immediate rise in blood sugar levels, followed by a rapid decrease, and blood sugar fluctuations affect energy levels in the body. Young pointed out that pure sugar, such as soda, is also linked to inflammation that can lead to fatigue, recommending trying to replace sugar-sweetened soft drinks with water or soda water.

Young explained that refined grains such as white bread and white pasta can contribute to low energy levels, noting that they are digested quickly, which leads to a rise in blood sugar levels, and when blood sugar eventually drops.
