Al-Marsad newspaper: Dr. Khalaf Al-Tawala, a specialist in infection control, answered a question: Are homosexuals really the cause of the emergence and spread of monkeypox?
Al-Tawala said during his appearance on the Ya Hala program: “The information is stable and correct, and homosexuals are the reason, and any illegal contact, whether sexual or non-sexual, causes this disease in the event that one of the parties is infected.”
He continued, “The practices of homosexuals have some fluids, and this is one of the causes of infection, hence the association of the disease with homosexuals, as well as prostitution networks in which there are mixed practices.”
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Health confirmed that no case of monkeypox has been detected in Saudi Arabia, which has recently begun to appear in some European and North American countries, following it has been endemic in some African countries for more than 50 years.
