This difficult story happened to one of my classmates, Nadia. We grew up and studied in a small town where all the inhabitants knew everything about each other and even more. Nadia and I were not particularly close friends, but to say that we did not communicate is impossible, I can call it a friendly relationship. She was a very attractive girl with a beautiful appearance. After high school, she started dating the most handsome guy in town and they became a great couple. And then Nadia got pregnant. An ultrasound showed they were having twins. In general, everything was fine until Nadia experienced a terrible tragedy – a catastrophe in which her mother died.
Due to stress, Nadia had a premature birth, and the babies did not survive. She underwent a complex operation, during which she needed a blood transfusion. It saved her life. We did not see each other for some time, but then it became known through mutual acquaintances that during a blood transfusion Nadya had contracted the human immunodeficiency virus. She learned about her illness when she did a blood test. Her husband was also found to be a carrier of the virus. The couple was regularly observed by doctors and received appropriate treatment. Over time, their lives began to improve naturally, and they tried to lead a joint life, despite the virus. However, fate knocked on their door again. Nadia’s husband caught a bad cold and fell ill with bilateral pneumonia. Doctors were unable to save him and he died. The death of her husband terribly undermined the physical and emotional state of Nadia. It was a huge blow to her and it’s hard to imagine what she went through. Once we met by chance on the street, and we struck up a conversation. Nadia remained the same beautiful woman, but sadness was read in her eyes. A year later, I met Nadia, and then she told me that she was talking to a man from Italy, whom she found in a marriage agency. At first she did not tell him about her health, but over time she admitted that she had HIV. The man really liked the beautiful Nadia, and he did not stop talking to her when he found out about her illness. We agreed to keep in touch, and she told me about the visits of the Italian to her. True love arose between them, and he proposed to her. Nadia was busy preparing the necessary documents for moving to Italy. I recently received an email from Nadia. She wrote that she was doing well in Italy. Her husband takes care of her and they make plans for the future. I answered her and we started chatting. She informed me that she was pregnant. Nadya was undergoing constant treatment in an Italian clinic to prevent the transmission of HIV to her unborn child. Nadia recently gave birth to a healthy baby girl thanks to careful medical supervision. She recently came with her husband and daughter to visit her father in our city. She called me and we met. She was still beautiful, although she was already a grown woman. There was happiness in her eyes. She said that she continues to be under constant medical supervision, but is already used to it. She loves her husband very much, and he is very kind to her. We continue to keep in touch, and Italian doctors are always monitoring her health. I sincerely wish Nadia a long and happy life. I don’t know how long people with HIV live, but I hope to see her daughter grow up. I am sincerely happy for Nadia that, despite all the obstacles, she found her happiness. Such a woman deserves sincere happiness.
