Several consumers complain of not succeeding in reaching Ferrero’s consumer service concerning the recall, underlined Jean-Sébastien Walhin, the Afsca spokesman.

Contacted several times by the Belga press agency, the Ferrero company did not respond. “The lines are saturated,” said Ferrero Ardenne’s telephone attendant, who assured us that she had forwarded our interview request to the department responsible for relations with the press in Brussels.

However, it is about the “health of consumers, mainly children”, recalls the Afsca which therefore ordered Ferrero to “manage its communication in a more professional way”. “Consumers must be able to reach the company and obtain clear information about this product recall,” insists the spokesperson.

If Ferrero does not urgently improve its communication and its availability to consumers and the press, Afsca will take repressive measures, warns the agency.

Five Kinder products from the Ferrero brand were recalled on Monday by Afsca. After a first recall in Ireland and the United Kingdom two days ago, France and Belgium have in turn carried out such a recall.
