On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, television viewers face a packed evening of broadcast, cable, and streaming releases. Highlights include Halloween-themed episodes of Abbott Elementary and Scrubs on ABC, the Season 42 finale of The Challenge on Paramount+, and a new binge release of Love Is Blind on Netflix, TVLine reported.
The Bottom Line
- Broadcast networks anchor their Wednesday prime-time lineups around seasonal Halloween specials, including holiday-themed outings for ABC’s Abbott Elementary and Scrubs.
- Reality and competition formats dominate streaming and cable windows, marked by the conclusion of The Challenge Season 42 on Paramount+ and fresh episodes of Love Is Blind on Netflix.
- Live sports feature prominently on the broadcast schedule as Fox airs Game 5 of the MLB World Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Halloween Programming Hits Broadcast Lineups
Broadcast schedules for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, lean heavily into seasonal holiday formatting. On ABC, Scrubs returns to the schedule with J.D. helping a former colleague treat a difficult patient, Elliot seeking support for her new clinic, and Turk facing family growing pains. Later in the evening on the same network, Abbott Elementary shifts its focus to an exclusive Halloween party hosted by Ava, while Janine and Jacob grow suspicious of Gregory.
Cable networks counter with reality and unscripted programming. Bravo airs an episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City featuring Heather’s Jupiter Year party, where cast members dress as their zodiac signs. Meanwhile, NBC continues its procedural block with Chicago Med, Chicago Fire—featuring the FBI recruiting Severide for a staged arson investigation—and Chicago P.D.
Streaming Platforms Deliver Season Finales and Binge Drops
Streaming services schedule high-profile finales and midseason breakpoints for late October. Paramount+ hosts the two-part conclusion of The Challenge Season 42, pitting Team Gray and Team Orange against each other for a $500,000 grand prize. The platform also adds the documentary Hanging by a Wire, which follows a mountain cable car malfunction.
Netflix drops a fresh batch of three episodes for Love Is Blind Season 11, moving couples toward potential altar decisions ahead of the following week’s finale. Prime Video delivers a two-episode midseason finale for Helluva Boss, and Peacock adds the animated feature Minions & Monsters to its streaming library.
Live Sports and Late-Night Competition Schedules
Fox anchors its early evening slate with live sports coverage, broadcasting Game 5 of the MLB World Series. The Milwaukee Brewers look to clinch the series against the Tampa Bay Rays following a dramatic Game 4 loss.
On the game show front, ABC broadcasts the Season 5 finale of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. The episode features reality stars Sarah Jane Nader and Brooks Nader playing for charity, followed by an appearance from SNL Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che.

Cable Comedy and Reality Slate
Late-night cable slots feature established animated and unscripted franchises. Comedy Central airs an episode of South Park centered on South American beef markets, followed by an installment of Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head where the title characters get lost in the woods. CBS continues its unscripted run with The Amazing Race, tracking teams through Albania as an Intersection twist alters the competition.
