From September 1, a long-term unemployed person will be able to keep 25% of their allowance for three months if they take up a shortage job or find a job in another region, according to a royal decree signed on Wednesday by the Minister of Economy and Employment, Pierre-Yves Dermagne.

“I supported this measure because I am certain that it is likely to encourage unemployed workers to find work in sectors where there is a labor shortage or to dare to cross linguistic borders” , the minister said in a statement. The financial benefit will be granted for three months and will be fully cumulative with the salary.

This measure is part of the government’s efforts to increase the employment rate. It had already been discussed within the interfederal platform set up by Mr. Dermagne to find solutions to trades in shortage and to interregional mobility with the other ministers of employment.
