Anuel AA announces corridos album as gift to Mexico

«Me gusta mucho a mí el proceso de los corridos. Por supuesto que se viene una enorme sorpresa, ya que el mismo día en que se publique el álbum existe la posibilidad de que se lance un segundo disco de manera simultánea, compuesto exclusivamente de corridos. Es un regalo que le tengo a México», indicó Anuel AA durante su participación en la Semana Billboard de la Música Latina, EFE reported.

The Puerto Rican trap pioneer used the Miami Beach gathering to announce an upcoming record dedicated entirely to regional Mexican music. Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago, known professionally as Anuel AA, revealed that this unexpected project will drop simultaneously alongside his previously announced urban production, Real hasta la muerte 2.

A Dual Release Strategy in Miami Beach

Speaking at the Faena Forum during the industry summit, the 33-year-old artist explained that the corridos album serves as a tribute to a country where he spends considerable time. He noted that he has resided in Mexico more frequently this year than in the United States, cultivating close ties with major figures in the local music scene.

Anuel AA pointed to prominent regional Mexican artists such as Peso Pluma, Tito Double P, and Netón Vega as frequent collaborators and friends. He also singled out Fuerza Regida frontman Jesús Ortiz, confirming plans to record new material together. While a precise release calendar remains unconfirmed, the artist mentioned that his upcoming birthday on November 26 would coincide with ongoing celebrations for the production.

Bridging Latin Trap and Mexican Corridos

The forthcoming releases arrive four years after his last full-length project, LLNM2 (Las leyendas nunca mueren). Reflecting on his artistic evolution, the boricua singer drew a direct parallel between the street-level ethos of Mexican corridos and the roots of Latin trap. Having started his career during a period that included a 2016 arrest for illegal firearm possession, he characterized early trap music as a form of Puerto Rican corridos.

«Yo canto mucho para la calle, y como los corridos son tan para la calle y de manera fina, como quien diría, tú lo comparas con el trap, el trap es más sucio. Y me inspiró mucho esa música, demasiado», the artist explained during the panel.

This creative pivot reflects a broader shift in his daily listening habits. Rather than consuming traditional urban genres, Anuel AA stated that his car audio is dominated by regional Mexican sounds. In his view, the industry required a fresh infusion of style, positioning the collaborative crossover as a natural progression for his career.
