Appeal to the Resistance and anti-fascism associations for the demonstration in Rome

On April 25th, 78th of the Liberation from Nazi-fascism, the anti-fascist procession organized by the ANPI and promoted with the other anti-fascism associations will parade through the streets of the capital, Gold Medal of Military Valor for the facts of the Resistance (attached the call to participate).

This year too it will be a great demonstration, which will symbolically begin with a tribute to the Mausoleum of the Martyrs of the Fosse Ardeatine, and then we will gather in the concentration camp in Largo B. Bompiani, around the monument to the Future Values ​​of the Resistance and where we will have the presence of the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri.

With the Roman partisans and women student organizations, male and female workers’ unions, political parties, democratic and anti-fascist movements of the city of Rome, the large associations of civil society, the world of volunteering and LGBTQ+ organizations will be present.

Many of these organizations will bring their contribution during the procession through the intervention of their own and their representatives according to a principle of rotation. Significantly, the speeches by the National Association of Persecuted Italian Anti-Fascist Politicians (ANPPIA) and by LIBERA against the mafias will open the event in Largo Bompiani.

The procession will start at 10.00 from Largo B. Bompiani to cross the popular neighborhoods of Tor Marancia, Garbatella and Ostiense, scene of the battle of 8/9 September 1943, until arriving at Porta San Paolo, a symbol of the beginning of the War of Liberation.

Three more rallies will be held during the breaks in the procession, starting with the students of UDS and Rete Studenti Medi who will give voice to the world of school in the current context characterized by a strong attack on freedom of teaching and the founding values ​​of anti-fascism. Also during the procession we will be pleased and honored to have the greeting of Don Mattia Ferrari, diocesan assistant of Catholic Action and parish vicar of Nonantola, chaplain of the Mediterranean NGO Save Humans, threatened by the Libyan mafia and today under protection for his humanitarian commitment.

The closing speeches at the Porta San Paolo rally they will be opened by the President of the provincial ANPI of Rome Fabrizio De Sanctis and by the Municipality of Rome, which, like every year in its institutional function, sponsored the event. Also present this year will be the General Secretary of the CGIL Maurizio Landini who will also speak on behalf of the UIL and CISL trade unions precisely in the year in which the 80th anniversary of the great strikes of 1943 occurs, which represented the first great mass action of the struggle anti-fascist in Italy against the dictatorship.

They will then intervene the National Association of Italian Martyrs’ Families, with the National President Francesco Albertelli, nephew of Prof. Pilo Albertelli, partisan Martyr of the Fosse Ardeatine decorated with the Gold Medal for Memory and the world of information with the intervention of Vincenzo Vita dell’ ARTICOLO 21 Association. Always present are the partisans, among them Luciana Romoli, Mario Di Maio, Gastone Malaguti and Iole Mancini, who with their irreplaceable presence and testimony will warm everyone’s heart on the day that commemorates the victorious insurrection of the Freedom Volunteers and the conquest of peace, freedom and democracy.

Once again, this year more than ever in memory of the gappists of via Rasella, the pride of the city, the Capital will celebrate this fundamental anniversary to reiterate, with the need to remember, the daily and future commitment for the complete implementation of the fundamental principles of the Constitution born from anti-fascism, from the Resistance and from the War of Liberation, with its indispensable and inseparable values ​​of Peace, Freedom and Social Justice in today’s society.
