Apple introduces redesigned MacBook Pro with OLED screens and M5 Pro

Apple has introduced a redesigned MacBook Pro lineup featuring dual-layer OLED screens and touch input for the first time, alongside M5 Pro and M5 Max silicon. The launch brings a PROLED XDR display with up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a chassis housing up to 24 hours of battery life.

PROLED XDR Specs and Dual-Layer OLED Technology

The new machines utilize a dual-layer OLED panel design to achieve high luminance levels. This panel reaches a peak brightness of 2,000 nits for both HDR and SDR content. Color coverage spans both the P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts with variable refresh rates up to 120Hz. Apple offers an optional Nano-texture glass finish for environments with strong ambient light. The hardware targets color-critical workflows like photo editing, video production, and 3D rendering.

Touch Input Integration on macOS

For the first time on a Mac, users can interact directly with the display. The touch layer supports scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, double-tapping to fill windows, and drag-and-drop file management. Audio editors, graphic designers, and video editors can manipulate timelines and virtual instruments directly on the glass. Physical keyboards and trackpads remain fully functional alongside the touch features. A Dynamic Island interface sits at the top of the screen to handle music controls, phone calls, and high-priority system alerts.

M5 Pro and M5 Max Performance Tiers

Under the hood, the systems rely on either the M5 Pro or M5 Max system-on-a-chip. The M5 Pro targets heavy compilation tasks, data processing, and multi-stream video editing. The M5 Max is configured for 3D animation, visual effects, and 8K video rendering. Configurations scale up to 128GB of unified memory and 16TB of solid-state storage. Connectivity includes three Thunderbolt 5 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, a MagSafe connector, and a headphone jack. The M5 Pro drives up to three external displays, while the M5 Max supports four.

Model & Chip Base Price (THB) Education Price (THB)
14-inch (M5 Pro) 104,900 98,900
16-inch (M5 Pro) 124,900 117,900
14-inch (M5 Max) 161,900 150,600
16-inch (M5 Max) 174,900 164,300

Chassis Dimensions and Audio Hardware

The 14-inch configuration weighs 1.38 kilograms, and the 16-inch model weighs 1.82 kilograms. Apple claims a maximum battery life of 24 hours, with fast-charging capabilities reaching 50 percent capacity in 30 minutes. The six-speaker audio system delivers 50 percent deeper bass response with Dolby Atmos support. Video calls utilize a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera paired with studio-quality microphones.
