Apple Launches New MacBook Pro and iMac with M6 Chips

Apple Expands Lineup With New MacBook Pro and iMac Powered by M6 Chips

Apple continued its October hardware announcements on Tuesday by introducing a fresh 14-inch MacBook Pro and an updated iMac, both driven by the M6 chip, as tek.no reported. These machines serve primarily as internal spec bumps while maintaining the physical designs, displays, cameras, and port configurations of their predecessors.

Hardware Specifications and Performance Metrics of the M6 Upgrades

The M6 processor inside the new MacBook Pro features twelve CPU cores and twelve GPU cores, stepping up from the ten cores found in the previous M5 generation. Apple equips the base model with 16 GB of unified memory, which users can scale up to 32 GB. According to Apple, this hardware configuration delivers up to 30 percent better graphics performance and handles artificial intelligence tasks up to 25 percent faster than M5 devices. The machine retains its Liquid Retina XDR screen with an optional nanotekstur glass coating to cut down glare.

Battery performance reaches up to 24 hours under testing conditions, though Apple notes real-world endurance fluctuates based on usage and configuration. Fast-charging capabilities allow the battery to reach 50 percent capacity in 30 minutes using a compatible power brick. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 alongside three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI output, an SD card reader, a headphone jack, and a MagSafe charging port.

Pricing and Availability Across the Norwegian Market

The updated 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at 27,490 kroner and ships in stellar black and silver color options. Concurrently, the refreshed all-in-one iMac arrives with a 24-inch Retina display boasting 4.5K resolution across seven distinct colorways. The baseline iMac tier features two Thunderbolt 4 ports starting at 19,990 kroner, while a twelve-core variant packs four ports and starts at 22,990 kroner, supporting dual external 6K displays.

Preorders for both devices open in Norway on Wednesday, October 28, with retail deliveries scheduled to begin on Friday, November 6. The standard M6 MacBook Pro forms the new entry-level option in the professional laptop range, while Apple maintains availability for higher-end configurations running M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.

Local Artificial Intelligence Integration and Software Limits

Both the new MacBook Pro and iMac support Apple Intelligence for local execution of compatible AI workloads. However, specific features and language packs face rollout restrictions. Siri AI operates as a beta component inside macOS 27.2 and currently lacks support for the Norwegian language.

Apple Unveils OLED iPad Mini Powered by A20 Pro

Apple also introduced the official product named iPad mini (A20 Pro) on Monday, October 26, 2026, marking the largest update ever for the mini series. The device features an 8,5-tommers OLED Super Retina XDR screen, and measures 195,3 × 132,6 × 5,4 mm with a weight of 255 grams for the Wi-Fi model and 263 grams for the Cellular version. The tablet is protected according to the IP67 standard under IEC 60529, tested under controlled laboratory conditions in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. Apple manufactures the unit using 35 percent recycled materials, including 100 percent recycled aluminum in the enclosure and 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery.

Performance is driven by the A20 Pro chip featuring an expanded unified memory bandwidth, utilizing up to 32 cores for local AI tasks. Wireless connectivity is handled by the N1 chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, alongside the C2 mobile modem for Cellular configurations. Audio and visual features comprise a 12 MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, three microphones, and six speakers with Dolby Atmos, alongside an Acoustic Display for stereo sound. The hardware supports 4K video output at 60 Hz, Apple Pencil Pro, and Apple Pencil USB-C, with biometric authentication via Touch ID in the top button. Color options include midnight and starlight. Running iPadOS with Apple Intelligence, the software includes Siri AI, which will not be available in the EU at the initial launch of iPadOS 27. The iPad mini starts at 8,990 kroner, with preorders beginning on October 28 and retail availability on November 6. Apple’s press contacts in Norway are Cathrine Skovly and the Apple Media Helpline.
