Arirang TV reporter “Fighting the President” civic group “Lost Journalists”

A civic group criticized the Arirang TV reporter who shouted “Fighting the President” during the Q&A process with President Yoon Seok-yeol.

The Bareun Press Association (Eonsilyeon) issued a statement on the 10th and said, “It is shocking that Arirang TV reporter shouted ‘Fighting the President’ at a briefing on the way to work for the president on the 8th.” I want to ask what Arirang TV thinks about the reporter’s basic posture.” After criticizing, a foreign correspondent pointed out that “it’s embarrassing to see some reporters crouching at the feet of the president like cheerleaders.”

“It is a very self-evident fact that reporters are not on the side of the entrance or supporters,” said Unshillyeon. She also pointed out, “Some media praised Kim Gun-hee’s fashion and makeup style,” she said.

Eonshillyeon said, “On October 26, 2016, during the press conference of President Park Geun-hye’s apology regarding Choi Soon-sil National Nongdan, professional reporters did not ask questions. This is in contrast to the fussing ‘aura that seems to add up to 100′”, he pointed out.

On September 30, 1999, when Hong Seok-hyeon, then president of the JoongAng Ilbo, arrived at the Seoul District Prosecutors’ Office to be investigated on charges of tax evasion and embezzlement, the JoongAng Ilbo reporters said, “Chief, cheer up.” Eon Shillyeon criticized, “This was one of the scenes in the black history of the Korean media, which is no different than the ‘reporting the death of a reporter’ when a reporter gave up on being a reporter.”

Eonshillyeon said, “The public’s trust is more important because the press is an unchecked power. The disappearance and insensitivity to ethics are extreme.” He added, “We ask for drastic introspection and drastic innovation from lost journalists who seem to have forgotten what they should do.”

Media Today asked the reporter and Arirang TV on the 8th and 9th for their position on the critical opinion, but they did not give an answer.
