The SPG HOGO Wels is currently third in the Central Regional League. However, promotion to the second league is not possible – at least if the licensing decision is made by the first instance. This temporarily refused the Welsers admission to the second league on Friday.
The devil is in the details. As the club reports, Senate 3 of the Bundesliga has refused the Huber Arena stadium approval for the second division. This was justified with a paragraph from the building permit for the Wimpassing sports facility from 2014, which states that loudspeaker announcements in the stadium are only permitted until 9:30 p.m., but according to game operating regulations they must be permitted at least until 11 p.m.

LASK without a license: A Bundesliga factory
“The SPG Wels has submitted a corresponding application for change to the city of Wels as soon as possible. However, changing a building permit is only possible if various deadlines are taken into account. This process usually takes a few months and was therefore not possible due to the necessary bureaucracy “To make the modified document available to the Bundesliga,” the club said in a statement.
Club manager Peter Huliak is quoted there: “In terms of infrastructure, it is of course very painful for us, as a lot of time and money was invested in various adaptations and we have now become victims of a 10-year-old decision. We are very happy that we have the adaptation of this decision here have initiated, but cannot influence the legal deadlines for such changes and are unfortunately a passenger here.”
