The National Service for Disease Prevention and Control (Senapred) of the Valparaíso Region has declared a yellow alert for the province of Los Andes due to the presence of the mosquito that transmits dengue.

According to information provided by the Seremi de Salud, the area has reported multiple outbreaks of the vector in all its states, which increases the possibilities of its reproduction. Given this situation, it has been decided to activate the yellow alert due to “sanitary alteration”, which will come into effect from this Tuesday.

“The objective of this measure is to gradually prepare the necessary resources to intervene according to the evolution of the event, in order to prevent it from spreading in extent and severity, minimizing the negative effects on people, their property and the environment.” , reported Senapred.

The Ministry of Health has issued a warning pointing out the importance of detecting and controlling any outbreak of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the transmitter of dengue, since once it settles in an area, it is very difficult to eradicate it.

Over the weekend, the Minsal confirmed the detection of a focus of this mosquito at the Los Andes bus terminal, Valparaíso Region, which underlines the urgency of taking preventive and control measures in the region.
