BYU football is dusting off a rarely seen visual identity for Halloween weekend, bringing back its all-navy blue uniform combination for a home game against Arizona State for the first time in five years, sports.ksl.com reported.
The program announced the uniform decision on social media ahead of the October 31 matchup. It marks a stark departure from the traditional royal blue and white staples that usually define the Cougars’ home games in Provo.

A Five-Year Hiatus for the Monochromatic Navy Look
The last time the Cougars suited up in the all-navy combination was back in 2021 during a home loss to Boise State. Prior to that appearance, the program rolled out the dark monochromatic threads in a 2010 matchup against New Mexico during the final stretch of BYU’s time in the Mountain West Conference.
This weekend marks the second time this season that navy blue serves as the primary uniform color at home. On October 9, the Cougars wore navy jerseys paired with white helmets and white pants in a 24-10 victory over Iowa State.
BYU enters the contest holding a 6-1 overall record and a 3-1 mark in Big 12 play. The Sun Devils arrive in Utah riding the momentum of a home win over Kansas State, bringing a 4-3 overall record and a 2-2 conference mark into the game.
First Visit to Provo in the Big 12 Era
Saturday marks Arizona State’s first trip to Provo since the program officially joined the Big 12 Conference in 2024. The last time the Sun Devils played on BYU’s home turf was during 2021, a game the Cougars secured 27-17.

The 2026 campaign has featured a diverse rotation of apparel combinations for the Cougars. The schedule so far has ranged from traditional royal-and-white layouts to specialized looks like the “Royal Sitake” variation worn against TCU, alongside the navy-and-white combination utilized against Iowa State.
Kickoff between BYU and Arizona State is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. MT on Saturday.
