Former Formula 1 team principal Christian Horner has firmly addressed and dismissed widespread tabloid rumors claiming he and his wife, Geri Halliwell, shared a private meal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the Cotswolds. Speculation had previously circulated suggesting the secret lunch occurred while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were weighing a potential return to live in England.
Speaking directly on the matter to The Times, Horner rubbished the claims regarding the alleged royal encounter. "I’ve never met Meghan," Horner stated, characterizing the report about the gathering as "complete b*****ks." A representative for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle corroborated this denial, confirming to media that no such meeting ever took place.
Dismissed Royal Rumors and Cotswolds Life
The reported rendezvous was said to have taken place in the Cotswolds, where Horner and Geri Halliwell reside in a Grade II listed former vicarage. The couple married in May 2015. Horner spent two decades steering Red Bull Racing, having taken the helm in 2005 to become the youngest team principal in Formula 1 history after starting out in karting and moving up through Formula 3000.
While addressing the fabricated stories involving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the former F1 executive also used the opportunity to speak candidly about his high-profile exit from Red Bull. In early 2024, a female employee at Red Bull Racing lodged allegations against him, prompting an internal corporate investigation. Horner denied all accusations and was formally cleared of wrongdoing following the inquiry.
Internal Inquiries and Red Bull Departure
Shortly after the initial clearance, an anonymous email account circulated leaked messages and photographs purportedly exchanged between Horner and the complainant. Horner dismissed the leaked material as "speculative," and the original internal ruling clearing him was subsequently upheld following a second review.

Despite surviving the formal inquiries, the fallout continued to impact the racing organization. Exactly one year later, amid ongoing internal friction and a wave of high-profile staff exits from the team, Horner officially departed from Red Bull.
