According to the Bible, Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus. This holiday is important in countries with a Christian tradition. We often forget that Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world. According to the NGO Open Doors, which helps them in several countries, some 5,600 Christians were killed in 2022, 6,000 imprisoned, 4,000 kidnapped, and 5,000 churches were burned down.
Communist regimes, for example, systematically persecute those who believe in the word of Jesus. In North Korea, Christian prisoners are tortured even more than others. They are subjected to the most cruel forms of torture.
The worst countries are Muslim
The persecution of Christians is not the prerogative of any particular state. However, Muslim countries are the worst. Among other things, apostasy is punishable by death. This is what happened in 2022 in Libya to a young Christian convert, Ahmed Muftah Bala’ou, who was executed. This kind of situation also exists in Afghanistan, where believing in Jesus is worth a death sentence.
Another example is the Owo massacre in Nigeria. In June 2022, 40 Christians were shot at close range in a church by five jihadists.
The Middle East is the cradle of Christianity. This in no way prevents the persecution of the followers of this religion. I recently visited Bethlehem in Palestine, the birthplace of Jesus. My guide, a Christian whose name I withhold for security reasons, wants to leave the region. All the Christian Arabs I met during my many trips to the Middle East wanted to leave.
They are constantly subjected to violence. Last November, for example, a Muslim man was accused by Christian girls of molesting them in a church in Bethlehem. They took it badly! A mob of angry Muslims attacked the church and the terrorized worshipers hiding there. There were several injuries. Earlier, in the year 2022, a Christian-owned hotel came under fire while two brothers were savagely beaten with iron bars. And so on.
Media silence
While the Palestinian Authority does absolutely nothing to arrest potential suspects, this persecution of Palestinian Christians is largely ignored in the international media.
For Muslim journalist Khaled Abu Toameh, whom I have met a few times, the media prefers to write stories that make Israel look bad. They don’t want to talk about Muslim Palestinians persecuting their Christian brothers. Moreover, they are afraid to testify while the Palestinian Authority blames Israel.
Meanwhile, in the country of Canadian multiculturalism, the Trudeau government is only interested in the fight against “Islamophobia”. He named Amira Elghawaby responsible for this file. It has a budget of $5 million. Ottawa also pays millions to Islamist groups.
What about hating Christians? Justin Trudeau did not lift a finger when, in 2021, around 40 churches were burned down in Canada. I also asked how much money Ottawa gives to the Canadian branch of the Open Doors organization. Answer: zero dollars.
