Croatia’s restaurateurs in financial trouble

Many factors are responsible for a good tourist season in Croatia, most places are setting records at the level of the record year 2019.

The measures were suspended, the pandemic seems like a relic from the last century. Hotels, apartments and restaurants were well prepared for accommodating and catering for numerous guests. That has also paid off. Many places have broken records from the exceptional year 2019, some with an increase of up to twenty percent.

Most overnight stays and arrivals are Croatians themselves. Also interesting is the fact that the Italians are returning more and more, if the reports of the Korcula Tourist Agency are to be believed.

Interestingly, the increase in guests in the camps has increased by 103 percent compared to 2019.

Despite the high number of guests and the fact that the city is very busy, nobody knows how this season will actually be looked back on. At least financially.

“I’ve never had more guests, the season started relatively early, I’ve never cleaned more or been expecting guests, and at the same time I’ve never made less money. Everything is very expensive,” says a lady from Korcula who has been renting apartments for years.
