Daily movement session: Start in Kagran

training

After years of planning, there is now the daily movement unit for children – at least as a pilot project. Pilot regions have been defined for this throughout Austria – in Vienna this is Kagran. Ten kindergartens and six elementary schools are involved.

“This is a two-year phase that is being evaluated, together with the ministries, and also financed by the federal government,” said Vienna’s City Councilor for Education and Deputy Mayor Christoph Wiederkehr (NEOS). The Ministry of Sports provides 6.2 million euros per year for the whole of Austria.

A daily gym class was originally planned for 2012. These still don’t exist – but children between the ages of two and 14 will now have daily movement units in the gym and in the classes in connection with other subjects. 1,100 kindergarten groups and school classes are part of the pilot project – in Vienna, for example, at the Prandaugasse elementary school in the Kagran district of Donaustadt.

Daily movement unit is coming

For years it was announced – the daily gymnastics lesson or rather time for exercise with warm-up to games. In Vienna, 10 kindergartens and 6 elementary schools are participating. You are part of the pilot project. The training is carried out by external parties.

Units with external coaches

The current federal government has only existed for two and a half years, said Sports Minister and Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens) at the presentation on Thursday – and this preparation time for “such a huge project” is a lead time of two years “quite appropriate”. You need the municipalities and also the sports associations for this. The daily movement units are carried out with certified external movement coaches.
