“Mexico considers it important that the human rights of Pedro Castillo be fully respected”
The commissioner of the North American country before the OAS expressed her “concern regarding the observance of due process and the judicial guarantees to which senior government officials are entitled, as well as the citizens who have participated in social protests since December 2022.”
Immediately followingwards, he mentioned that the Government of López Obrador “considers it important that the human rights of Pedro Castillo and the Peruvian population be fully respected.”
He also reported that the country’s foreign ministry will maintain good relations with Peru despite declaring Pablo Monroy, the Mexican ambassador in Lima, persona non grata.
