Ditjenpas Clarifies Mas Bechi’s Housing Assignment After Parole Revoked

Mochammad Achmad Bechi, also known as Mas Bechi, was returned to the Class I Prison in Malang on Thursday, October 8, 2026, after the Directorate General of Corrections revoked his conditional release, according to detikNews.

Inside the Malang Prison Security Measures

Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) spokesperson Budi Waskito addressed public reports regarding Bechi’s housing assignment. Waskito clarified to reporters on Saturday, October 10, 2026, that the convicted sex offender was not placed in an isolated, solitary cell, contrary to earlier statements.

“Nah ini bukan baru, tapi penempatan khusus,” kata Budi Waskito kepada wartawan, Sabtu (10/10/2026). “Jadi dia di blok yang sama dengan yang lainnya. Cuma namanya itu penempatan khusus. Jadi biar tidak ada kekerasan atau apa, jadi ditempatkan di penempatan khusus,” ujarnya.

Waskito explained that this security protocol applies to inmates flagged for specific risk assessments. Far from serving his time in complete isolation, Bechi currently shares his assigned quarters with four other inmates categorized under specific case profiles. The decision stems from recommendations by the Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) following mandatory security assessments, rather than any form of preferential treatment.

The Legal Fallout and Calls for Systemic Oversight

“Terkait dengan kasus-kasus yang sudah mendapatkan vonis, karena mitra Komisi XIII adalah Kementerian Imigrasi dan Pemasyarakatan, saya kira kita juga perlu menanyakan sejauh mana posisi masing-masing terpidana,” ujar Sibarani dalam siaran pers, Jumat (9/10/2026).

Sibarani emphasized that prison administration policies must balance rehabilitation compliance with public safety, clear deterrence, and rigorous victim protection. Ministry of Immigration and Corrections officials indicated that preliminary findings uncovered indications of procedural maladministration surrounding the initial approval of Bechi’s conditional release in August 2025.

Victim Reactions and the Long Road to Accountability

“Alhamdulillah, saya mendengar kabar kalau Bechi dikembalikan ke penjara. Rasanya langsung terharu, sampai ingin nangis,” kata korban kekerasan seksual yang membuat Bechi terbukti bersalah dan divonis 7 tahun penjara.

Convicted of sexual violence against students, Bechi was initially sentenced to seven years in prison and was not expected to complete his full sentence until 2029 prior to his controversial conditional release on August 15, 2025. Reflecting on the developments, the survivor voiced hope that institutional standards would hold firm: “Semoga hal-hal seperti ini tidak terjadi ke siapa pun dan keadilan di Indonesia tetap ditegakkan dengan seadil-adilnya,” kata korban.
