Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom announced on Monday, Oct. 19, that he will attend Game 3 of the WNBA Finals between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, directing a pointed public message toward Dream star Angel Reese.
“What’s up, Atlanta? I heard y’all loud and clear. Let me remind y’all one thing, I fear God and God alone. See y’all tomorrow…@WNBA,” Kanter Freedom wrote in a post on X.
Neither the Atlanta Dream nor the WNBA office has issued a statement regarding his expected arrival at the arena. The contest follows a Monday matchup where Reese recorded a double-double, helping the Dream tie the best-of-seven championship series at one game apiece.
I’m excited to announce that I’ll be in Atlanta on October 21st for Game 3 of the @WNBA Finals! As you all know, this all started with an interview featuring Gabby Williams of the Golden State @valkyries, when she said, “I have no problem with trans athletes playing on my team… pic.twitter.com/3odxvkEINj”
Kanter Freedom also addressed Reese directly on social media regarding his upcoming appearance in Georgia.
“My favorite diva has unfortunately blocked me on social media,” Kanter Freedom stated. “But that won’t stop me from showing my appreciation for the one and only @Reese10Angel! I can’t wait to take some notes on how to finish a layup after grabbing a rebound.”
The 34-year-old athlete previously spent 11 seasons in the NBA. On Aug. 7, he declared an intention to enter the WNBA’s 2027 draft while stating he identifies as a woman. In his video message announcing the trip to Atlanta, Kanter Freedom pointed to past remarks by Golden State Valkyries player Gabby Williams, who stated she had no opposition to transgender athletes playing with or against her, as the inspiration behind his roster ambitions.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert addressed league participation parameters in a response letter to members of Congress on Friday, clarifying that eligibility is restricted to women and noting that both Kanter Freedom and former NBA player Royce White are ineligible because they are men.
This upcoming arena appearance in Atlanta follows an ejection from Wintrust Arena during an Aug. 23 game featuring the Chicago Sky. Kanter Freedom attended that contest wearing a T-shirt printed with the definition of an adult human female, which led to a confrontation with Sky guard Natasha Cloud and his subsequent removal from the venue.
Following that incident, Kanter Freedom filed a lawsuit against the Chicago Sky organization, alleging that his ejection violated his First Amendment rights.
