For years, the former Green National Councilor Geri Müller (63) maintained contacts with Hamas exponents in Palestine. The ex-city mayor of Baden was even banned from entering Israel.

In 2012, Müller caused outrage when he met with Hamas representatives in the Bundeshaus café. A photo of him with the delegation and a gift from the guests sparked controversial reactions in the media.

Again “Blick» reported on Friday that one of the Hamas visitors at the time was killed in an attack on his home in the Gaza Strip. Not only Khamis al-Najjar died, but also his wife, two of his children and a grandchild. Al-Najjar, a doctor and member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and was linked to the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers.

Hamas spokesman Mushir al-Masri, who gave Geri Müller the gift at the time, is also making headlines. In December, according to Israeli sources, guns, rockets and bombs were seized from his home. Both al-Masri and another visitor are on the US terrorist financing list.

Geri Müller, who now works as an independent consultant in Baden, informed “Blick” when asked that he had not had any contact with the two men since meeting the visitors from back then. He emphasized that the meeting with the delegation in the Vue des Alpes at the Federal Palace only lasted about an hour for one session. He gave the gift, a picture of the al-Aqsa Mosque, to the Federal Palace after it was duly accepted. (job)
