A major clinical trial revealed that the weight loss drug Wegovy reduced the risk of heart attack, stroke, or heart-related death by 20% for people with cardiovascular disease.
Doctors said the findings, which have not yet been peer-reviewed or published in a medical journal, may encourage more people to use the popular weight-loss drug. According to CNN.
Novo Nordisk said Wegovy had a “safe and well-tolerated profile” in the study, which is consistent with what it has seen in previous trials.
The company indicated that it would file requests with regulators to add cardiovascular benefits to the drug’s prescribing information.
