Hofkirchen: 4-0 win after a performance by LASK player Rene Renner

Maybe it was the special away game at LASK that gave the Sportunion Hofkirchen/Traunkreis the decisive kick: yesterday’s 4-0 (2-0) win in the 1st Class East over Stein was Hofkirchen’s first win in the spring. This meant that coach Thomas Hinterreiter’s team was able to clearly escape the relegation zone. Most recently, the footballers of the lower house club at LASK were given an exclusive stadium tour by LASK player Rene Renner as winners of the competition from Bundesliga main sponsor Admiral. From the players’ tunnel to the coaching bench, the VIP club and also the tunnel club, where you can take a look at the players before they enter the field, everything was there. “It was very impressive, we also have enough LASK fans in our squad,” said sports director Michael Machreich, happy regarding the special kind of trip.

39 players at training

The fact that things didn’t quite go as planned this year was mainly due to bad luck with injuries. “In one match, seven players were missing from the starting eleven.” But you can also catch that. Machreich: “The enthusiasm is also reflected in the participation in training. 39 players took part in one session. We are also first with the 1b team – and can make up for a lot with our commitment and camaraderie.”

And the youngsters are also impressive. Ten players from the U18 made it into the fighting team or 1b. Thanks to the syndicate with Niederneukirchen, there are a total of ten youth teams.

Great importance is also placed on the infrastructure; the new grandstand was recently inaugurated. Everyone just calls the sports field in Hofkirchen a “stronghold”. “The name came regarding at a celebration 20 years ago when we had a particularly long winning streak and at some point late in the day someone said: We are a stronghold that you first have to conquer as an opponent.” Maybe yesterday’s win started a similar series.

And if one day Rene Renner no longer plays as a professional, a place in Hofkirchen would always be available.
