Holland Norway Lines: despite financial problems, there is still a chance that we will sail again

Holland Norway Lines, which offers ferry crossings to Norway and has applied for a deferment of payment on Wednesday, still sees a chance that sailing will resume. The Dutch company reports this in a message to customers.

Future bookings from customers will therefore not be cancelled. “Of course it is up to you to make other (holiday) plans, but know that if HNL continues, we would be very happy to welcome you again!”, the company reports on Thursday.

Holland Norway Lines also says that an administrator has been appointed who will see if and how the shipping company can continue. “There is still a chance that we will sail again and that your journey will continue.”

In addition, the company indicates that bookings made with a credit card are often covered by the card provider. Holland Norway Lines also advises to approach the travel insurer. “In all other cases, we or the administrator will inform our passengers as soon as possible.”

Problems after ferry service departed from Groningen

Holland Norway Lines reported on Wednesday that it had run into financial problems after the company had to leave Eemshaven in the province of Groningen. That resulted in many cancellations and fewer bookings.

Because all tours were discontinued immediately on Wednesday, travelers were left with many uncertainties. Holland Norway Lines advised travelers who were already in Emden for a sailing to find a hotel or to book a replacement trip.

In addition, it is uncertain whether customers who have already booked a ticket will get their money back. The costs for tickets at Holland Norway Lines can easily run into the hundreds of euros.

On the website, the shipping company states that travelers who are currently staying in Norway must travel back with alternative transport. This is because the MS Romantika, the ship with which Holland Norway Lines sails between Emden in Germany and Kristiansand in Norway, is currently in Emden and no longer sails.
