IMD warns red and orange alert in kerala | Red Alert in four northern districts; Orange alert in three places

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rains in the districts. Heavy rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

In some districts, the Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, but in hilly areas, there is a possibility of isolated thundershowers.

Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in at least three places in the last few days.

Those in areas affected by landslides, mudslides and floods in 2018, 2019 and 2020, as well as those living in areas identified by the Geological Survey of India and the expert committee of the State Disaster Management Authority as hazardous areas or uninhabitable areas, and local bodies and government agencies should complete the hazardous preparations.

Special instructions to the public

In case of heavy rain warning, it is necessary to co-operate with the authorities in relocating areas as per the instructions.

People living in dangerous areas should be cautious as the sea level rise is likely to be strong along different coasts. You have to move around at the required stage. Fishing gear should be kept safe.

Those who live in unsealed houses and those whose houses do not have strong roofs should be prepared to move for safety in the face of warnings in the coming days.

Endangered trees / posts / boards in private and public places should be secured and the trees should be pruned. Risks should be brought to the attention of the authorities.

The Kovid must be fully prepared to meet the criteria for the transition to relief camps.

Those in the disaster risk area should have an emergency kit ready immediately.

In case of heavy rains, do not cross rivers, bathe in rivers or other bodies of water, go fishing or for any other purpose.

Do not climb over the overpasses to see the view, take selfies or stand in groups.

Those living below the dams should make preparations in anticipation of the possibility of water leaking out of the dams and relocate if necessary as per the instructions of the authorities.

Completely avoid night trekking to hilly areas.

Be aware of the dangers of falling trees and posts in the wind.
